About This Course

Learning analytics is an essential tool for educational leaders to make informed, data-driven decisions that can significantly enhance teaching practices and improve learning outcomes. By collecting, analysing, and interpreting data on student progress, leaders are empowered to identify trends, uncover areas of need, and refine strategies to foster greater academic and developmental success. In education, where individual student needs vary greatly, learning analytics provides a powerful way to personalise the educational experience and track each student’s development, ensuring that no learner is left behind.

This program introduces participants to a variety of tools and techniques for gathering, analysing, and using educational data effectively. Participants will explore how to collect data from different sources, including assessments, classroom observations, and behavioural tracking, and learn how to integrate these data streams into meaningful insights. Through this program, teachers will gain a solid understanding of the best practices for data collection and how to navigate the ethical considerations of using student data, ensuring privacy and security are upheld at all times.

In addition to collecting data, learners will be trained on how to analyse and interpret this information to gain actionable insights. They will be introduced to basic statistical methods and tools that allow them to draw conclusions about student progress, identify patterns in learning behaviour, and predict potential challenges before they arise. Through hands-on exercises and real-world case studies, teachers will practice interpreting data, learning how to spot red flags that might signal learning gaps or developmental delays, and uncover strengths that can be built upon in future lessons.
