About This Course

What You'll Learn

This module aims to provide students with laboratory skills and the theoretical knowledge of Petrochemicals & Its Applications. Detailed knowledge of the various processes to convert petrochemicals to basic building blocks followed by their conversion to useful common and specialty chemicals, as well as their importance to Singapore’s economy will be taught. In addition, the role of the specialty chemicals derived from petrochemicals will be covered. Students will acquire the essential skills to determine the physical and chemical properties of petroleum products and petrochemicals.

Entry Requirements

• The participant shall be Singapore Citizens (“SC”), Singapore Permanent Residents (“PR”) or Long-Term Visit Pass Plus (LTVP+) Holders.
• The participant shall be fresh graduates with full-time Institute of Technical Education (ITE) NITEC/ Higher NITEC from the relevant fields.
• The participant shall be within 36 months after their graduation from the PSEI (graduation date as stated on the NITEC/Higher NITEC certificates). For male participants who need to serve National Service, the 36-month period will start from the Operationally Ready Date (“ORD”).
• ITE graduates from other NITEC/Higher NITEC courses may also apply and the application will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
• Participant who does not falls under any eligibility mentioned above will be considered if IHLs and employer deem candidate suitable for WSP.
