Analyse Scams and Frauds in the Digital World
About This Course
In this module, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the evolving cybersecurity landscape, with a focus on legal frameworks, risk management practices, and cryptographic principles. Learners will explore key legislation relevant to cybersecurity activities, including laws that impact penetration testing in Singapore. They will develop the skills to assess and manage risks associated with cybersecurity operations and enhance their knowledge of cryptographic techniques essential for securing information systems. Through a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical insights, this module equips learners with the foundational competencies required to navigate the complexities of modern cybersecurity environments.
What You'll Learn
LO1: Explain the implications of the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), Cybersecurity Act (CSA), and Computer Misuse Act (CMA) on cybersecurity practices, particularly penetration testing.
LO2: Identify sector-specific regulatory requirements and their impact on cybersecurity activities.
Explain and Manage Cybersecurity Risks
LO3: Recognize and articulate the potential risks presented by penetration testing and other cybersecurity activities.
LO4: Evaluate risk levels, predict outcomes, and recommend effective mitigation strategies.
LO5: Plan for and manage potential Denial-of-Service (DoS) conditions as an example as part of risk management efforts.
Apply Cryptographic Principles in Cybersecurity
LO6: Differentiate between encryption and encoding, and explain their respective use cases.
LO7: Describe the fundamentals of symmetric and asymmetric encryption and their applications.
LO8: Identify and explain common encryption algorithms (DES, 3DES, AES, RSA, RC4) and hashing functions (SHA1, MD5).
