SE200: Full-Stack Development (Synchronous E-Learning)
About This Course
This course is designed for aspiring and mid-career software developers who want to master full-stack web application development using modern frameworks and best practices. Whether you are transitioning into a developer role or enhancing your existing skills, you will gain hands-on experience in end-to-end application workflows—from writing statically-typed front-end code to deploying containerised services.
Through instructor-led workshops and practical labs, you will build real-world features using industry-standard languages, frameworks, and approaches to software engineering. In addition, you will learn how to secure, optimise, test, document, and deploy your applications in accordance with Infocomm Technology standards for applications development.
By the end of this course, you will be able to demonstrate proficiency in core full-stack competencies (coding, debugging, testing, documentation, security integration, performance tuning, and deployment) preparing you to contribute effectively in professional development teams.
What You'll Learn
- Implement clean-coding and error-analysis techniques to produce maintainable, statically-typed UI code that adheres to organisational coding standards
- Construct responsive, utility-first user interfaces and integrating component libraries to meet accessibility and design guidelines
- Develop robust APIs and apply modular design patterns, interfaces, and documentation practices for clarity and maintainability
- Build full-stack CRUD workflows by designing relational database schemas, and implementing data-access layers that support secure transactions
- Integrate authentication and authorization features, and apply encryption and secure-coding practices to protect user data from common security threats
- Enhance application performance through caching strategies, and feature refactoring to optimise load times and resource usage
- Diagnose application issues using debugging tools, and document design decisions and troubleshooting steps according to industry documentation standards
- Conduct unit, integration, and end-to-end tests, and enforce clean-code checklists to detect defects early and maintain high code quality
Entry Requirements
- English Language C6 grade and above for GCE 'O' Level or equivalent
- Basic computer literacy: Some prior coding or technical experience is required, participants should possess foundational skills in using computers and internet applications, as these are essential for engaging with the course content and software.
