Managing Suicide Crisis Over Phone (Classroom and Asynchronous E-learning)
About This Course
Professionals and volunteers in emergency services, social services, mental health, education, or human resources may occasionally find themselves supporting someone in a suicide crisis over the phone.
The telephone remains one of the earliest and most established platforms for delivering crisis support and mental health care. It is widely recognised as a legitimate and effective tool for offering emotional support and psychological interventions.
Through experiential learning, role plays, and the use of local case studies, learners will develop essential skills to provide emotional support and engage in meaningful, effective conversations about suicide over the phone. Learners will also reflect on their own values and attitudes towards suicide and mental health, gaining awareness of how these personal perspectives may influence or hinder their ability to listen and respond empathetically.
