CS200: Designing Resilient Cybersecurity Systems (Synchronous E-Learning)
About This Course
CS200 is an intermediate course designed for learners who have completed CS100: Cybersecurity Essentials and are ready to transition from understanding threats to designing secure systems. This course builds the architectural skills required to embed cybersecurity principles directly into IT systems and infrastructure. It equips learners with the ability to design and evaluate segmented networks, secure applications, cryptographic data flows, and cloud-native environments, aligning their knowledge with enterprise requirements and regulatory expectations.
Structured around practical design outcomes, the course takes learners through the entire security architecture lifecycle. Starting with resilient infrastructure and network segmentation, learners will progress to secure software and data design before applying threat modelling techniques to modern technologies such as cloud platforms and AI-driven systems. Each learning unit includes hands-on case studies and architectural modelling exercises that reflect real-world scenarios within regulated industries like finance and government.
This course prepares learners to demonstrate competence in designing secure systems and controls, defining security specifications, and embedding security objectives into evolving business and technical environments. CS200 forms the second part of a progressive training pathway that ultimately prepares learners for professional certifications such as CISSP and roles such as Security Architect, Systems Designer, or GRC Specialist.
What You'll Learn
- Design secure and segmented network architectures using zoning, traffic control, and system component integration, in alignment with enterprise security requirements and IT infrastructure standards.
- Apply Zero Trust principles by embedding access policies and continuous verification mechanisms into architecture designs to minimise the impact of security breaches.
- Specify security requirements for microservice and API architectures, incorporating principles such as least privilege, defence in depth, and secure integration controls.
- Design cryptographic assurance strategies by selecting appropriate encryption protocols and applying key management principles to protect data confidentiality, integrity, and authenticity.
- Document architectural specifications using industry-standard models and frameworks, translating security goals into structured technical artefacts.
- Perform structured threat modelling for cloud-native and AI-enabled systems, identifying architecture-level risks introduced by emerging technologies and proposing corresponding mitigations.
- Evaluate modern threat landscapes to identify vulnerabilities in evolving business environments, including risks from supply chain dependencies, infrastructure as code, and adversarial AI.
