About This Course
This course provides participants with advanced skills in pattern development and garment construction, focusing on tops with variations in collars, necklines, and sleeves. Learners will gain expertise in taking body measurements, interpreting style variations, and transforming them into precise paper patterns.
Through practical training, participants will learn how to draft, manipulate, and construct tops that incorporate complex design details. The course also emphasizes essential techniques in fabric laying, cutting, sewing, edging, and finishing to achieve high-quality garments that meet industry standards.
Delivered through whiteboard drafting, quarter-scale drafting, demonstrations, and hands-on sewing practice, this course equips participants with the technical knowledge and applied skills required to confidently produce advanced garment styles.
What You'll Learn
Learn to create accurate base blocks using industry size charts or given measurements as the foundation for top construction.
2. Develop a variety of top patterns with collar, neckline, and sleeve variations
Apply block manipulation techniques to design tops featuring diverse style elements while maintaining proper fit.
3. Label and mark pattern pieces with symbols and notches
Understand how to add essential markings for sewing accuracy, alignment, and ease of garment assembly.
4. Sew a top with variations in sleeves and necklines

5. Evaluate sewn products against specifications or measurements

Entry Requirements
MINIMUM AGE:

SINGAPOREAN / SINGAPORE PR:
▪ GCE ‘O’ LEVEL CREDITS WITH MINIMUM GRADE C6 FOR 3 SUBJECTS, INCLUDING ENGLISH AND MATHEMATICS; OR
▪ WSQ ADVANCED CERTIFICATE IN FASHION TECHNOLOGY; OR
▪ ADVANCED CERTIFICATE FROM ANY PEI; OR
▪ HIGHER NITEC
ENGLISH REQUIREMENTS:
▪ GCE "O" LEVEL CREDITS WITH A MINIMUM OF C6; OR
▪ IELTS SCORE 5.5 OR TOEFL SCORE 46; OR
▪ PASS TEMBUSU INSTITUTE'S ENGLISH TEST
STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE BASIC COMPUTING SKILLS, I.E., TURN ON THE LAPTOP, USE THE MOUSE, DRAG AND DROP FILES, USE ONLINE SEARCH ENGINES FOR RESEARCH, AND BE A COMPETENT USER OF MICROSOFT OFFICE.
