Basic Draping
About This Course
This course provides participants with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in draping techniques to create apparel patterns directly on the body form. Through the manipulation of fabric, learners will explore how patterns and designs are developed three-dimensionally before being transferred into two-dimensional paper patterns.
The course is particularly valuable for sample makers, pattern technicians, and fashion designers who wish to gain a deeper understanding of how garment design and construction originate through draping. Emphasis will be placed on developing basic silhouettes such as skirts, blouses, bodices, and collars, while applying key principles of grain, ease, balance, and proportion.
Delivered through active classroom learning and hands-on practice, participants will acquire the skills to create accurate apparel patterns by draping, refine them into precise paper patterns, and enhance their ability to integrate 3D design techniques into the fashion production process.
