About This Course
The Specialist Diploma in Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing provides learners with key knowledge and applied skills required for technical roles in the biopharmaceutical manufacturing and adjacent sectors. The curriculum covers core domains such as GxP compliance, quality control and assurance, process control and validation, and lean manufacturing practices, ensuring alignment with industry and regulatory requirements. In recognition of the sector’s growing emphasis on digital transformation, the programme also integrates Generative AI as a key competency. Work-Study Post-Diploma (WSP) learners can personalise their learning, by developing skills in either Biopharmaceutical Operations or Generative AI.
What You'll Learn
This project module focuses on applying lean manufacturing principles within the biopharmaceutical industry to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and support regulatory compliance. Learners will explore tools such as value stream mapping, 5S, and Kaizen, supported by real-world case studies of successful implementations. In addition to productivity and quality gains, the module will include sustainable manufacturing practices, encouraging learners to identify and minimize environmental impact through waste reduction, energy efficiency, and responsible resource use. Learners will be equipped with practical strategies to optimize processes, foster continuous improvement, and embed a culture of sustainability and lean thinking within their organisation.
