About This Course

This is a module under the Diploma in Engineering (Electrical – Rapid Transit Technology).

What You'll Learn

This module provides students with an understanding of the principles of operation of various technologies within the rapid transit system (RTS). An overview of key features of various sub-systems within the RTS (i.e. Power network, Signalling & Communication, Integrated Supervisory Control System, Permanent Way, Environmental Control System, E&M for Building services, Electrical-Rolling Stock and Automatic Fare Collection) are introduced.
With the emerging trend of digital transformation technologies (e.g. IoT, Data Analytics) impacting across all sectors of industry, student will learn the integration of technologies into operations of the RTS to enhance the efficiency, reliability and quality of their operation and services.

Entry Requirements

GCE ‘O’ Levels The following GCE 'O' Level grades and with at least 1 year of relevant working experience:
• English Language: Grade 1 – 7
• Mathematics (Elementary or Additional): Grade 1 – 6
• Science: Grade 1 – 6

Nitec in an engineering or information technology discipline
GPA > 3.5 OR GPA > 3.0 and at least 1 year of relevant working experience

Nitec in Technology in an engineering or information technology discipline
GPA > 3.5 and at least 1 year of relevant working experience

Higher Nitec in an engineering or information technology discipline
GPA > 2.0 OR GPA > 1.5 and at least 1 year of relevant working experience
