Offensive Security - Ethical Hacking
About This Course
In this comprehensive course, participants will master the art of penetration testing. They will learn how to gather intel through Open- source intelligence (OSINT), WHOIS, and Domain Name System (DNS) enumeration. Participants will discover live hosts and delve into network exploration with port scanning and Operating System (OS) fingerprinting using Nmap. They will uncover vulnerabilities, explore remote control methods, and leverage the Metasploit database to exploit weaknesses.
The course equips participants with knowledge of brute-force attacks and privilege escalation techniques for both Windows and Linux environments. By the end of the course, participants would have navigated internal networks through lateral movement, solidifying their penetration testing skills.
What You'll Learn
- Understand the methodologies and tools used by ethical hackers (penetration testers) to identify vulnerabilities in systems and networks
- Gather information about target systems (reconnaissance)
- Gain hands-on experience with vulnerability scanning, exploitation, and privilege escalation techniques
- Develop a structured approach to ethical hacking engagements
Entry Requirements
Solid understanding of computer networking concepts: Familiarity with IP addresses, protocols (TCP/IP), network devices (routers, firewalls), and basic network topologies is crucial.
Basic understanding of operating systems: Knowledge of Windows and Linux, including file systems, user accounts, and permissions, would be beneficial.
Comfort with command-line interfaces (CLI): Many of the tools used in ethical hacking, like Nmap and Metasploit, operate through a command-line interface.
Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills: Ethical hacking involves identifying vulnerabilities and creatively exploiting them.
Prior programming experience: While not mandatory, some experience with scripting languages like Python or Bash can be helpful for understanding certain tools and automating tasks.
Commitment to ethical hacking practices: This course emphasizes using learned skills for authorized penetration testing and vulnerability research, not malicious purposes.
