Financial Modelling with AI
About This Course
This course provides learners with a structured and practical introduction to financial modelling for valuation purposes. It focuses on building spreadsheet-based models that support informed financial decision-making through the selection of appropriate valuation approaches, modelling of financial drivers, and application of sound financial and accounting principles. Learners will progressively develop the ability to construct, adapt, and review valuation models that translate assumptions into meaningful financial outputs, while ensuring accuracy, consistency, and relevance to the valuation objective.
The course emphasises hands-on application using industry-accepted spreadsheet practices, enabling learners to model financial information, perform scenario and sensitivity analysis, and validate model integrity. Attention is also given to understanding the premises and bases of value, as well as the limitations of different valuation methods, to support professional judgement in valuation assignments.
In addition, the course introduces the use of artificial intelligence tools as a supporting aid in financial modelling workflows. Learners will explore how AI-enabled tools can assist in tasks such as structuring model templates, checking formulas for errors or inconsistencies, generating alternative scenarios, and summarising modelling assumptions. The course positions AI as an augmentation tool that enhances efficiency and insight, while reinforcing the importance of human oversight, domain knowledge, and ethical use in financial modelling and valuation contexts.
What You'll Learn
1.Determine the most suitable valuation approach for a given scenario by evaluating the valuation purpose, assumptions, and basis of value.
2. Develop a structured financial representation of a business or asset by identifying and linking key financial drivers.
3. Construct spreadsheet-based financial computations that convert forecast inputs into valuation results.
4. Configure a valuation model to test alternative assumptions and analyse their effects on value outcomes.
5. Evaluate the integrity and suitability of a valuation model by identifying errors, inconsistencies, and modelling limitations.
