User Interface and Visual Design Foundations
About This Course
Learners in this course will be able to apply fundamental principles of visual design to create aesthetically pleasing and functional user interfaces. They will leverage information architecture techniques to organize content effectively, ensuring a seamless user experience. Learners will also conduct usability testing to improve accessibility for diverse users and environments, and utilize interaction design strategies to develop intuitive, dynamic digital products that meet user needs.
What You'll Learn
LO1. Develop an understanding of UI design fundamentals, including key technical components and information flows, and assemble a list of user and functional requirements through competitive and comparative analysis to justify design decisions.
LO2. Create well-structured information architectures, navigation systems, and layouts that optimize user experience and organize content effectively.
LO3. Apply visual and interaction design principles to create intuitive, aesthetically pleasing, and functional user interfaces, incorporating reusable UI components for consistency.
LO4. Design accessible and inclusive user interfaces by adhering to established accessibility standards, justifying design decisions based on user needs and inclusivity principles.
LO5. Conduct usability testing, evaluate user interactions, and iteratively improve UI designs based on feedback and testing results to enhance responsiveness and usability.

Entry Requirements
Academic Requirement
- 3 GCE O level subjects (including English) with a pass (i.e. C6
and above) or equivalent
- Completion of General Assembly's Course - Rapid Prototyping, Design Iteration, and Usability Testing
Language Proficiency
- GCE O Level English with a pass (i.e. C6 of above) or
- Workplace Literacy & Numeracy (WPLN) Level 5
