Applied Microsoft Excel Skills: From Fundamentals to AI-Assisted Analysis
About This Course
This course is designed to equip learners with practical Microsoft Excel skills for workplace data analysis and reporting. The course is suitable for learners with little to basic Excel experience who are required to organise data, perform calculations, analyse information, and present insights clearly in their roles.
Learners will be guided through the full data workflow in Excel, starting with navigating the Excel interface and structuring worksheets professionally. They will learn how to clean, validate, and prepare raw datasets, including handling inconsistencies, duplicates, and formatting issues commonly encountered in real-world data. Core Excel formulas and functions will be introduced to support calculations, analysis, and basic decision-making tasks.
The course also covers the creation and use of PivotTables to summarise and analyse data across multiple dimensions, enabling learners to identify patterns, trends, and exceptions. Learners will further develop skills in data visualisation by creating and formatting charts and dashboards that communicate insights effectively to stakeholders.
To prepare learners for evolving workplace practices, the course includes an introduction to Artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted features within the Excel environment, such as Microsoft Copilot. Learners will gain awareness of how AI tools can support tasks like formula generation, summarisation, and error detection, while reinforcing the importance of sound data preparation and human judgement.
Throughout the course, learners will work on guided, hands-on exercises using realistic, sector-relevant datasets, culminating in a capstone project that integrates data preparation, analysis, and visualisation skills. By the end of the course, learners will be able to apply Excel confidently to support data-driven analysis and reporting tasks in their workplace.
