AI for Software Engineers
About This Course
This course is designed for software engineers who want to move beyond basic tool use and start building secure, scalable, and intelligent AI-powered applications. Whether you're working on product development, backend systems, or developer platforms, this course gives you the hands-on skills to integrate large language models (LLMs), automate workflows, and design full-stack AI features.
You'll learn how to optimise prompt interactions, implement streaming APIs, deploy intelligent agents, and safeguard your systems against prompt injection and performance failures. If you're ready to code smarter, build faster, and lead in the era of AI-enhanced engineering - this course is for you.
What You'll Learn
- Apply AI coding tools within software environments to resolve integration issues and boost productivity.
- Formulate structured prompts and safety patterns to improve the reliability of AI-generated outputs.
- Organise and troubleshoot codebases to support AI tool compatibility and reduce integration breakdowns.
- Implement tech stacks optimised for AI-assisted development using cloud-ready frameworks and tools.
- Differentiate between templated and AI-assisted approaches to select the most efficient workflow for each use case.
- Analyse token flow and model output logs to optimise model performance and reduce operational costs.
- Integrate third-party AI APIs and troubleshoot functionality to extend application capabilities.
- Construct and orchestrate AI features with streaming capabilities that balance interactivity, speed, and accuracy.
- Build end-to-end AI applications with persistent state and user control using modern deployment tools.
- Refine AI-powered development pipelines by integrating feedback loops and debugging strategies.
- Interpret runtime metrics and trace logs to identify and resolve issues affecting cost and speed.
- Develop intelligent systems using contextual data retrieval and external model integration.
- Implement safe and precise retrieval workflows for LLMs that minimise risks and improve content alignment.
