Product Carbon Footprint Assessment in accordance with ISO 14067
About This Course
This course is about the quantification and analysis of the Carbon Footprint of Products (CFP) in accordance with ISO 14067. Designed for professionals involved in environmental management, sustainability, and product lifecycle analysis, the course demystifies the principles, methodologies, and data requirements needed to conduct credible and science-based carbon footprint assessments. Learners will explore the life cycle perspective of carbon footprinting, from raw material acquisition through production, use, and end-of-life treatments. Through this course, learners will gain the critical competencies to identify greenhouse gas (GHG) emission sources, understand data quality needs, apply appropriate emission factors, and interpret results with accuracy and transparency.
What You'll Learn
Principles that govern CFP studies, including relevance, completeness, transparency, and avoidance of double-counting.
Stages of a product life cycle relevant to carbon footprinting: raw material acquisition, production, transportation, use, and end-of-life.
Difference between product configurations and how they affect CFP boundaries and data requirements.
Quantification Methodology
System boundaries and use of cut-off criteria.
Life cycle inventory (LCI) data collection and quality requirements.
Life cycle impact assessment (LCIA) using global warming potentials (GWP).
Interpretation of results including uncertainty and sensitivity analysis.
