Developing Microservices: Design, Build, and Deploy Scalable APIs Across Heterogeneous Tech Stacks (SF)
About This Course
This practical 5-day course teaches developers how to design, build, and deploy robust microservices using two different technology stacks to simulate real-world enterprise environments. Participants will gain hands-on experience in creating RESTful APIs, enabling service-to-service communication, and deploying containerized microservices in an orchestrated environment. Key architectural patterns such as API Gateway, service discovery, and circuit breakers are explored to ensure scalability, resilience, and interoperability.
By building services in multiple languages, learners will master cross-service integration patterns and end-to-end microservices deployment. The course concludes with securing, testing, and deploying a distributed application in a cloud-native infrastructure using containers and orchestration tools.
What You'll Learn
LO2: Determine key security requirements and features for APIs in accordance to evaluation guidelines for software security
LO3 :Create a project plan to guide REST API development process using SDLC
LO4: Enhance API functionality, usability, and security by applying relevant software security types and features.
LO5: Plan the bundling of APIs and its related files to improve deployment and usage with the use of feasibility analysis for API reconfiguration, integration, or portability.
LO6: Evaluate various software security and testing techniques and select appropriate tests based on API-specific properties, debugging tools, and contextual suitability.
LO7: Configure VM instances & containerised environments to deploy and operate APIs across multiple infrastructure platforms.
LO8: Determine the server, scripting and mark-up languages required to develop APIs taking into account of emerging security threats and impact on the APIs
LO9: Develop APIs in line with design specifications, utilising a range of tools & programming languages and evaluating their effectiveness in different contexts
LO10: Evaluate test results against required performance, standards and usability outcomes by applying a range of APIs testing methods and quality assurance practices during development reviews
LO11: Resolve API functional, performance, and security issues by applying appropriate testing techniques and knowing the pros & cons of the different techniques.
LO12: Adopt clean coding practices to ensure that codes are testable and maintainable based on code refactoring techniques and best practices
LO13: Analyse API security issues encountered and identify the necessary actions to address them in accordance with internal & external quality and security standards or benchmarks for the API development.
