What You'll Learn

The Certificate in Design Foundation introduces participants to the philosophies, processes, and basic skills of design, with a focus on interior design. It covers design thinking and creative processes to support learners before progressing into interior design projects that require comprehensive design development. The certificate also explores contemporary issues affecting interior design through critical enquiry and theorising to inform design decision-making. In addition, participants will develop foundational design visualisation skills using manual and digital drawing techniques to produce basic orthographic drawings, and learn key drawing components such as form, texture, proportion, perspective, tonal value, and composition.

Entry Requirements

GCE ‘O’ Levels:
3 relevant passes and 1-year relevant working experience:
English Language: 1-7
Mathematics (Elementary or Additional): 1-7
Any other subject excluding CCA: 1-6

FT Nitec:
Nitec in Space Design (Interior & Exhibition), Space Design (Architecture) or related design discipline with GPA >= 3.5
OR
Nitec in Space Design (Interior & Exhibition), Space Design (Architecture) or related design discipline with GPA >= 3.0 and at least 1 year of relevant working experience.

PT Nitec in Technology/Services:
GPA > 3.5 and 1 year of relevant working experience

FT Higher Nitec:
Higher Nitec with GPA >=2.0
OR
Higher Nitec with GPA >=1.5 and at least 1 year of relevant working experience.

PT Higher Nitec in Technology/Services:
GPA > 2.0 and 1 year of relevant working experience

WSQ Diploma:
Relevant WSQ Advanced Certificate (or higher) with 1 year of relevant working experience and Level 6 for both WSQ Workplace Literacy SOA & Workplace Numeracy SOA.
