About This Course

This a Module under the Diploma in Design (Interior Design).

What You'll Learn

The module focuses on processed/synthetic materials as finishes for interior surfaces, as well as furniture and furnishings in the context of workplace design settings. Students explore and discover the effect of design poetics of materials in conditioning office and workspaces, as well as considerations on cost, performance, and specifications. They also learn detailing techniques towards enhancing spatial experiences.
AI-based resources may be introduced to assist in material research, cost estimation, and generating innovative detailing ideas. Students will also be exposed to sustainable material selection and strategies to reduce environmental impact while maintaining design integrity.

Entry Requirements

GCE ‘O’ Levels:
3 relevant passes and 1-year relevant working experience:
English Language: 1-7
Mathematics (Elementary or Additional): 1-7
Any other subject excluding CCA: 1-6

FT Nitec:
Nitec in Space Design (Interior & Exhibition), Space Design (Architecture) or related design discipline with GPA >= 3.5
OR
Nitec in Space Design (Interior & Exhibition), Space Design (Architecture) or related design discipline with GPA >= 3.0 and at least 1 year of relevant working experience.

PT Nitec in Technology/Services:
GPA > 3.5 and 1 year of relevant working experience

FT Higher Nitec:
Higher Nitec with GPA >=2.0
OR
Higher Nitec with GPA >=1.5 and at least 1 year of relevant working experience.

PT Higher Nitec in Technology/Services:
GPA > 2.0 and 1 year of relevant working experience

WSQ Diploma:
Relevant WSQ Advanced Certificate (or higher) with 1 year of relevant working experience and Level 6 for both WSQ Workplace Literacy SOA & Workplace Numeracy SOA.
