About This Course
This course is aligned to ACRA’s Sustainability Reporting Body of Knowledge (SR BOK).
There is a growing demand for companies in today’s business environment to produce sustainability reports that are transparent, reliable and comparable. Investors, lenders and other stakeholders are relying on these reports to make critical decisions.
In line with these developments and in support of Singapore’s mandate on climate reporting, Nanyang Technological University launched the Advanced Professional Certificate in Sustainability Reporting and AI Analytics, a programme that is fully aligned with the Sustainability Reporting Body of Knowledge (SR BOK) developed by Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) and accredited by Skillsfuture under the Skillsfuture Green Workplace (SFGW) initiative.
With 5 robust modules including a capstone, this comprehensive programme will help organisations build capabilities and upskill professionals to produce sustainability reports that comply with international standards as well as Singapore’s regulatory requirements. You will be equipped with a thorough understanding of sustainability reporting standards for environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues and climate-related disclosures. Through real case studies, you will analyse and apply globally recognized frameworks such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB).
The programme emphasizes practical skills for communicating key sustainability-related risks and opportunities. You will also discover what constitutes high-quality sustainability and climate reporting and examine real-world challenges organizations face in implementing and auditing these disclosures.

Module 2: Sustainability Reporting Landscape and Reporting under IFRS
• Sustainability/climate reporting landscape internationally and regionally
• Singapore’s regulatory requirements
• Application of IFRS S1 and IFRS S2
• Materiality assessment
• Interoperability of IFRS S1 and IFRS S2 with the equivalent standards in GRI, European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) and U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (US SEC) Rules
• Developing climate transition plans
Module 3: Greenhouse Gases (GHG) Emissions - Carbon Accounting and Management
• Global actions to address sustainability challenges
• Application of the GHG Protocol – Scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG emissions
• Develop science-based targets and decarbonisation strategies.
• Getting ready for assurance through building robust data and process governance around sustainability reporting
Module 4 - Practical AI and Analytics for Sustainability
• Explore how AI is transforming sustainability practices.
• Create a customisable sustainability chatbot
• Leverage AI to draft sustainability policies.
• Develop an Excel dashboard to track sustainability metrics.
Module 5: Sustainability Capstone Project
• Work in teams to develop practical solutions that strengthen the quality, consistency and usefulness of sustainability and climate reporting.
• Analyse scenarios and develop actionable strategies that enhance reporting credibility.
Entry Requirements
Though there are no formal academic requirements, professionals with 5 or more years of working experience or preferably with some basic accounting knowledage, will be able to better appreciate the contents of this programme.
