Advanced Certificate in Agentic Artificial Intelligence (AI) Module 2: Data and Language for Agentic AI: Fundamentals of Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing
About This Course
Data and language are at the heart of successful artificial intelligence (AI) applications. Machine Learning (ML) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) are foundational components that power agentic AI systems.
This programme explores how agents “think” through a two-day module focused on the ML and NLP foundations behind agentic AI. Participants will learn how large language models (LLMs) process language, how retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) ensures factual grounding, and how to design effective prompts. Participants will also see live demonstrations and gain hands-on practice in building a no-code RAG agent that cites its sources and answers questions accurately.
What You'll Learn
• Describe the core principles of Machine Learning (ML) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) relevant to Agentic Artificial Intelligence (AI), without requiring coding proficiency
• Explain how Large Language Models (LLMs) (e.g., Generative Pre-trained Transformer [GPT] models) work and why they are central to agentic AI, including how LLMs process language through tokenisation, embeddings, attention, and training data
• Apply best practices for designing effective prompts to optimise agentic AI interactions in business contexts, including zero-shot, few-shot, and chain-of-thought prompting techniques
• Describe Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, function calling, and memory mechanisms used in agent systems
• Identify data quality and bias issues, propose mitigation strategies, and evaluate the accuracy, latency, and trustworthiness of agent outputs
• Interpret outputs from agentic AI systems to ensure clarity, accuracy, and alignment with professional and organisational needs
• Discuss emerging trends in multimodal data, multilingual models, and advanced agent memory systems
