Amazon Web Services (AWS) Rapid App Development with Kiro (Advanced)
About This Course
This advanced two-day course builds on foundational Kiro knowledge, focusing on its powerful automation and extensibility features.
Participants will learn to automate repetitive development tasks using Agent Hooks, configuring them for specific Integrated Development Environment (IDE) events like file creation, saving, or deletion, to maintain code quality, prevent vulnerabilities, and standardise processes.
Participants will also learn about Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, learning to extend Kiro's functionality by connecting to specialised external servers, for accessing knowledge bases, integrating with external services and / Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), and creating custom tools.
The curriculum includes codebase indexing for enhanced language support and debugging, practical application of Kiro for complex tasks and refactoring, and a comprehensive review of advanced security best practices.
Finally, participants will deep dive into Steering files to provide Kiro with persistent project knowledge for consistent code generation and reduced prompt repetition, explore Visual Studio (VS) Code migration, and understanding Kiro's operational modes like Autopilot and Supervised.
What You'll Learn
1. Automate repetitive development tasks using Agent Hooks, configuring them for
various events such as file creation, saving, or deletion.
2. Extend Kiro's functionality by configuring and interacting with Model Context Protocol
(MCP) servers, integrating external tools, documentation, and data sources.
3. Guide Kiro's behaviour through Steering files, establishing consistent project
conventions, architectural decisions, and best practices.
4. Understand and apply Kiro's security and privacy features for advanced scenarios,
including for MCP servers and operational modes.
5. Understand codebase indexing and Kiro's enhanced language support and
debugging assistance features.
6. Identify and utilise Kiro's advanced operational modes (Autopilot and Supervised) and
understand seamless profile migration from VS Code.
