About This Course
This module introduces the different modes of transport, namely land, air and sea, which are vital in facilitating international trade. The module will enable learners to understand route optimisation, and handling and transportation of different types of product, such as foodstuff, chemical and pharmaceutical products. Learners will be introduced to last mile delivery logistics and how it is shaping the future of urban transportation.

On completion of this module, learners are able to:
1. Discuss the importance of transportation to globalization and how it contributes to the effective flow of commerce.
2. Discuss the different modes of transport used in global distribution, the legal forms of carriage and regulatory functions governing global transportation.
3. Discuss the key characteristics and challenges in air, sea, land and multi-modal transportation.
4. Apply various types of transport documents and explain the functions of ship chartering.
5. Apply the concept of multimodal transportation and the approaches in handling different types of product.
6. Discuss the challenges of last mile logistics and urban transportation.

Entry Requirements
Minimum GCE ‘O’ Level with 3 passes including English and Mathematics; NITEC; Higher NITEC.
