Scientific Computing with Python
About This Course
This course aims to provide learners with a strong working knowledge of the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in chemistry. Learners will be trained in the rigorous construction of Python-based AI projects and in the application of AI techniques for the analysis of chemical data, including visualization, classification, quantitative modelling, and process insight generation. The course will incorporate multiple case studies to examine the impact of AI across various sub-disciplines of chemistry. In addition, learners will develop professional communication competencies through the delivery of technical presentations to diverse audiences. Upon completion, learners will be equipped with the essential skills required for careers involving the application of AI in chemical research and industry.
As this micro-credential course is only offered in the FlexiMasters in Computational Chemical Modelling and AI programme, learners are required to enrol into the programme and complete all required courses within this programme.
What You'll Learn
• Use Python data science libraries, such as, numpy, matplotlib, Pandas, for scientific computation, for scientific data visualization and data analysis.
• Identify the functionalities in scikit-learn and other equivalent packages and apply scikit-learn or other package to build machine learning models. Build deep learning models by using Keras/TensorFlow or other equivalent/variant packages.
• Identify interesting data-driven questions in chemistry and formulate meaningful study problems that you want to explore in chemistry.
• Collect/extract relevant data, visualize and perform exploratory analysis on data. Implement machine learning/deep learning models to study chemical data.
Entry Requirements
No pre-requisites are needed to enroll in the individual courses; however, learners without qualifications or work experience in relevant engineering or the related fields may find the course contents challenging.
Note: Shortlisting will be conducted for the courses
