Applied Agentic Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Accounting and Finance
About This Course
Agentic Artificial Intelligence (AI) represents the next frontier in finance automation, where systems can plan, execute multi-step tasks, and operate with conditional logic across tools and data sources. But knowing what agentic AI is and knowing how to deploy it safely in an accounting environment are very different things.
Unlike coding-heavy or theoretically abstract courses, this module is grounded in accounting controls and enterprise process logic. Participants learn to distinguish agentic AI workflows from traditional Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and Generative AI (GenAI) prompting, design safe orchestration patterns, and assess where human judgement must remain central within finance processes. Whether in accounting, finance, audit, or shared services, the focus is on equipping professionals with practical skills to lead AI-enabled operating models, without getting lost in hype or technical complexity.
This course is a specialised applied module within the broader Graduate Diploma in AI in Accounting.
What You'll Learn
- Differentiate agentic Artificial Intelligence (AI) workflows from deterministic automation, Generative AI (GenAI) prompting, and traditional Robotic Process Automation (RPA) in accounting and finance contexts
- Identify finance processes where agentic AI can create value, based on process variability, decision complexity, control requirements and exception volume
- Decompose accounting and finance workflows into structured agent tasks, decision points, tool interactions and human review checkpoints
- Design orchestration logic for an agent-enabled finance process, including task sequencing, approval gates, fallback rules, and escalation paths
- Compare alternative solution approaches, for example, manual, deterministic automation, GenAI-assisted and agentic, using business value and implementation feasibility criteria
- Build out a practical agentic AI use case for a finance function, from scoping through to deployment readiness assessment
