About This Course

Designed for both aspiring and experienced maritime professionals, the Integrated Tug Master Training Programme (ITTP) equips participants with the knowledge, understanding, and practical skills required to meet the standards of the MPA Port Limit Helmsman License examination and perform the dual roles of Helmsman and Tug Master within Singapore’s port limits.

Develop hands-on expertise in vessel navigation, harbour craft handling, tug operations, and emergency response management. Learn to apply maritime regulations and safety practices effectively, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient port operations.

Recognised by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), this programme delivers industry-aligned, job-ready training to support evolving operational requirements. ITTP also supports career progression and professional development, preparing learners to take on critical operational and leadership roles within the maritime sector.

What You'll Learn

1. Participants will demonstrate their ability to perform the dual roles of Helmsman and Tug Master by safely navigating vessels within Singapore port limits. They will apply advanced seamanship skills, interpret navigational data, and execute manoeuvres for harbour craft and tug operations under varying environmental and operational conditions.
2. Participants will apply maritime regulations and operational procedures by interpreting and implementing COLREGs and port-specific requirements in real-time scenarios. They will demonstrate compliance with regulatory standards set by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) to ensure safe and efficient vessel operations.
3. Participants will execute emergency response procedures effectively by responding to simulated incidents such as firefighting, oil spill management, emergency towing, and crisis handling. They will demonstrate decision-making, coordination, and adherence to safety protocols to safeguard the crew, vessel, and marine environment.
4. Participants will demonstrate competency in harbour craft and tug operations by applying practical skills in vessel handling, towing operations, and onboard systems management. They will integrate theoretical knowledge with hands-on application to achieve operational readiness.
5. Participants will evaluate modern maritime operational challenges by understanding key industry developments such as decarbonisation initiatives and cybersecurity measures. They will demonstrate awareness of how these factors impact safe and sustainable maritime operations.
