About This Course

The course is designed to develop learners’ understanding of sustainable data centre design and operational strategies to support energy efficiency, decarbonisation, and resilient digital infrastructure. As data centres play a critical role in supporting the digital economy, they also present growing environmental challenges due to high energy demand, intensive cooling requirements, and increasing carbon emissions. Built environment and data centre professionals are therefore required to adopt innovative design and operational approaches that balance performance, reliability, and sustainability.
Through the course, learners strengthen their competencies in applying energy‑efficient data centre design and layout optimisation to improve power usage effectiveness (PUE), evaluate advanced cooling technologies including liquid cooling, free cooling, and AI‑driven thermal management, integrate renewable energy and low‑carbon power strategies such as on‑site generation and power purchase agreements, and implement waste heat recovery and reuse solutions to enhance overall system efficiency. Learners will be equipped with practical knowledge to assess real‑world data centre projects and contribute to the development of energy‑efficient, low‑carbon, and future‑ready data centre facilities.
