About This Course

The course is designed to develop learners’ understanding of carbon management principles and their application across the built environment to support decarbonisation and net zero objectives. Built environment professionals play a critical role in addressing climate change, as buildings contribute significantly to global carbon emissions across their life cycle—from material extraction and construction to operation and end of life stages. Increasing regulatory requirements, stakeholder expectations, and sustainability commitments have heightened the need for professionals to manage carbon more systematically and effectively.
Through the course, learners strengthen their competencies in understanding carbon fundamentals and net zero carbon pathways, analyse embodied carbon using life cycle carbon assessment principles, evaluate operational carbon and its relationship with energy performance and net zero energy outcomes, and apply practical carbon reduction strategies including offsets and reporting practices. Learners will be equipped with practical knowledge to assess real world projects, align carbon management strategies with industry frameworks such as Green Mark, and contribute to low carbon, resilient, and future ready built environment outcomes.
