About This Course

This is a module under the Specialist Diploma in Air-Conditioning & Energy Sustainability.

What You'll Learn

This module aims to equip students with essential skills in air-conditioning systems for industrial and commercial buildings. It covers key theoretical, design, and optimisation aspects of air-conditioning systems, including the refrigeration cycle, psychrometry, heat load estimation, system design, and pipe sizing with pressure loss calculation. The module also addresses the design, operation, and maintenance of air-conditioning systems for manufacturing facilities, such as cleanroom air-conditioning systems.

Entry Requirements

Diploma Qualifications:
Applicants need to have a minimum diploma qualification in mechanical engineering, precision engineering or industry engineering from recognized institutions.

Individuals with a minimum diploma qualification in other engineering fields other than mechanical engineering, but with three years of relevant working experience in ACMV/ cleanroom facility/ facility management/ ESD and building services industry will be considered on a case-by-case basis and may be subjected to interviews or tests before they can be considered for enrolment.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL):
Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements may be considered for admission to the course based on evidence of at least five (5) years of relevant working experience or supporting evidence of competency readiness. Suitable applicants who are shortlisted will have to go through an interview and/or entrance test. The Polytechnic reserves the right to shortlist and admit applicants.
