Essentials of Mental Well-Being and Psychological First Aid (Classroom & Asynchronous e-learning)
About This Course
This is a 1-day blended short course designed to strengthen Tier 1 mental well-being literacy and basic Psychological First Aid capabilities among community members, volunteers, peer supporters, and frontline personnel. Anchored to the Health Promotion Board Design Guide for Tier 1 Mental Well-Being Programmes and Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s MindKaki movement, the course equips learners to understand mental health, mental well-being, and mental distress; identify common signs that someone may be struggling; practise active listening, supportive communication, and basic informational support; apply the Prepare-Look-Listen-Link approach; promote healthy lifestyle behaviours and self-care; and guide learners towards appropriate sources of support. The course focuses on prevention, early recognition, and community support. It follows a do-no-harm approach and is not intended to diagnose, counsel, or treat mental health conditions. Learners complete 4 hours of self-directed e-learning and 4 hours of face-to-face applied practice using guided discussion, scenarios, and role-play.
