Life Cycle Assessment with reference to ISO 14040:2006/Amd1: 2020 and ISO 14044:2006/Amd2: 2020
About This Course
This course provides a holistic overview of sustainable engineering principles and practices across the entire product/service life cycle. Students will gain expertise in Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) techniques for quantifying material and energy inputs/outputs, as well as Life Cycle Impact Assessment (LCIA) methodologies to evaluate environmental impacts like climate change, acidification, and resource depletion. The course covers interpretation of LCIA results to inform sustainable design decisions through Life Cycle Decision Analyses, considering environmental tradeoffs alongside economic and social factors.
