Data Storytelling with AI (SF) (Classroom & Asynchronous Elearning)
About This Course
This course covers the transformation of business data into audience-appropriate visual narratives that drive decisions and action.
Participants learn the principles of data storytelling (audience, question, argument, visual encoding and the ask), how to prepare and reconcile multi-source business data, and where AI accelerates the workflow and where judgement must stay human. They then turn a messy multi-source operational dataset into a one-page executive decision story, build an interactive business-review dashboard with narrative layers for executive, operational and frontline audiences, publish the headline view as a shareable, refreshable dashboard beyond the Claude workspace, and finally build and deliver a data-backed change pitch to a simulated stakeholder panel briefed to resist.
The work is done in Claude as the primary tool for dataset analysis, narrative drafting and presentation design, with Perplexity AI providing external context that enriches the interpretation of trends. Participants use the full Claude workspace: Projects to organise scenario datasets and briefs, Artifacts to build the interactive dashboards, decision story and pitch deck, Skills to standardise repeatable storytelling workflows, Cowork and its plugins to run hands-on multi-file data workflows end to end, and MCP connectors to ground analysis in enterprise data.
The course suits business analysts, data analysts, managers, marketing analysts and professionals responsible for presenting business insights. It supports progression into roles such as Business Intelligence Analyst, Data Analyst, Analytics Translator, Insights Manager and Reporting Lead.
What You'll Learn
Knowledge Statements
1. Explain the principles of data storytelling (audience, question, argument, visual encoding and the ask) for business decision-making, and how the Claude workspace of Projects, Artifacts, Skills, Cowork plugins and MCP connectors supports the storytelling workflow.
2. Describe how Claude and Cowork plugin workflows support analysis, narrative drafting and visual design across the data storytelling workflow.
3. Evaluate how a single dataset is adapted into different narratives for executive, operational and frontline audiences without distorting the evidence, including the data-governance obligations when that data is accessed via MCP connectors.
Skills Statements
1. Build interactive dashboards as Claude Artifacts that answer a defined business question, from multi-source data organised in Projects and accessed via MCP connectors, publishing shareable, refreshable views to cloud reporting tools.
2. Generate and refine narratives in Claude that translate analytical findings into a clear recommendation, saving repeatable storytelling workflows as reusable Claude Skills.
3. Design and deliver presentations built as Claude Artifacts, with external context sourced using Perplexity AI, that persuade a specific audience to act on the data.
Ability Statement
Apply the full Claude workspace, including Projects, Artifacts, Skills, Cowork plugins and MCP connectors, to convert complex business data into audience-appropriate visual narratives that drive decisions and action.
