GAI101: Applied Generative AI Fundamentals
About This Course
In this course, learners will move beyond simply talking about artificial intelligence to actually building with it, gaining a practical, hands-on understanding of generative AI and the everyday tools transforming how modern professionals work.
Beginning with the core concepts behind large language models, you will develop a clear, jargon-free understanding of how generative AI works, what it can and cannot do, and where its risks lie. You will then master prompt engineering, progressing from foundational techniques to advanced methods that reliably produce high-quality, structured results across leading platforms such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini.
Moreover, you will apply generative AI to real work: creating multimodal content, analysing data, building your own custom AI assistants, and designing no-code automations and AI agents that streamline repetitive tasks. You will also learn to ground AI in your own documents through retrieval, and to work safely and responsibly with sensitive organisational data. The course culminates in a hands-on practical exam in which you build and present a working AI workflow drawn from your own role.
By the end of this course, you will be equipped to confidently integrate generative AI into your daily work, automate manual processes, and identify opportunities to drive productivity within your organisation.
Upon completion of this course, the students will be able to:

Entry Requirements
- Aged between 18 and 65 years old
- Prior experience in relevant domain is not required
- Able to read and converse in English comfortably
- Able to operate and use the computer (Windows /Mac / Linux) for daily task such as browsing the internet, messaging, etc
- Minimum education level of Secondary education
