About This Course

This programme provides a comprehensive framework for implementing operational resilience using a structured methodology that encompasses the Plan, Implement, and Sustain phases of the Operational Resilience Planning Methodology. Participants will learn how to assess organisational resilience capabilities, conduct maturity assessments and gap analyses, develop resilience strategies and implementation roadmaps, establish governance structures, define risk appetite, and secure executive sponsorship for resilience initiatives.

Learners will also gain practical expertise in identifying critical business services, mapping interconnections and interdependencies across people, processes, technology, facilities, information, and third parties, establishing impact tolerances, conducting scenario testing, and validating resilience capabilities against severe but plausible disruption scenarios. The programme further explores the integration of operational resilience with operational risk management, business continuity management, crisis management, cyber resilience, and third-party risk management to create a cohesive resilience ecosystem.

In addition, the course focuses on sustaining resilience through organisational culture change, communication strategies, training and awareness programmes, self-assessments, independent quality reviews, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement practices. Participants will learn how to embed operational resilience into business operations, governance processes, and strategic decision-making to ensure long-term organisational preparedness and adaptability.

Upon successful completion of the programme, learners will be able to design, implement, manage, and continuously enhance an operational resilience framework that enables their organisation to anticipate, withstand, respond to, recover from, and adapt to disruptive events while maintaining the delivery of critical business services within acceptable impact tolerances.

What You'll Learn

• Learners will showcase their capability to identify and prioritise critical business services by analysing organisational processes, products, services, and stakeholder requirements. Through practical exercises and case studies, they will demonstrate their ability to map interconnections and interdependencies across people, processes, technology, facilities, information, and third-party service providers to determine vulnerabilities and potential points of failure.

• Learners will apply operational resilience techniques to establish impact tolerances and evaluate organisational resilience against severe but plausible disruption scenarios. They will demonstrate their proficiency in designing and conducting scenario testing exercises, assessing resilience outcomes, identifying capability gaps, and recommending improvements to strengthen service continuity during disruptive events.

• Learners will develop strategic operational resilience roadmaps by integrating operational risk management, business continuity management, crisis management, cyber resilience, and third-party risk management practices. They will demonstrate their ability to align resilience initiatives with organisational strategies, regulatory requirements, and enterprise risk management objectives.
