Build: Create Intelligent and Agentic Workflows with Low-Code Automation Tools
About This Course
This 5-day course helps developers to develop confident automation practitioners who can prototype a working solution, explain the reasoning behind its design, and hand it to IT for review. Participants begin with low-code workflow foundations - triggers, actions, conditions, approvals and error handling - before moving into AI-enabled document and text workflows, and then into designing, building and stress-testing AI agents with defined tools, memory and escalation boundaries.
Every build is grounded in a real business scenario, and wherever possible in the opportunity and business case each participant developed during the Discover module. The default hands-on platforms are Microsoft Power Automate, AI Builder and Copilot Studio, paired with n8n as a second, open platform.
By the end of the course, each participant demonstrates a portfolio of at least three working automations - a standard workflow automation, an AI-enabled document or text workflow, and an agentic workflow - with the guardrails and human review points that make them safe to run.
What You'll Learn
• LO2 - Identify suitable document-processing use cases, configure AI-based document extraction, evaluate extraction confidence, and route low-confidence or incomplete results for human review.
• LO3 - Build AI-assisted communication workflows that classify and analyse business messages, apply sentiment-based escalation thresholds, and generate draft responses subject to mandatory human approval.
• LO4 - Design and implement AI agents with appropriate tools, context, memory and autonomy boundaries, and test their behaviour for hallucinations, unsupported outputs and unauthorised actions.
• LO5 - Orchestrate workflows and specialised AI agents into end-to-end business solutions, applying routing logic, guardrails, approval gates and retry mechanisms to control execution and operational risk.
• LO6 - Monitor automated and agent-based solutions by defining relevant logging and monitoring requirements, capturing failures and decisions, and establishing appropriate handoffs for human oversight and governance.
Entry Requirements
Completion of the Discover module (or equivalent working knowledge of workflow anatomy, process mapping and automation opportunity scoring).
No coding or programming experience required.
Comfort with everyday business software (email, spreadsheets, forms) is sufficient.
Access to an organisational Microsoft 365 account is required for the Power Automate, AI Builder and Copilot Studio lab. Personal Microsoft accounts are not supported.
