About This Course

Designed for engineering and technical professionals in the power generation sector, this course addresses key performance gaps in managing mid-life Combined Cycle Power Plants (CCPP), particularly in interpreting plant condition indicators, planning refurbishment and modernisation works, selecting appropriate maintenance and asset lifecycle strategies, and balancing plant availability, efficiency, cost and reliability considerations.
Through structured coverage of asset management, maintenance practices, condition monitoring, optimisation approaches and upgrade and modernisation programmes, learners will be better able to evaluate plant condition, develop more robust maintenance and lifecycle strategies, and support upgrading and modernisation planning. The course also addresses gaps in incorporating regulatory and sustainability requirements (e.g. emissions control, efficiency considerations and compliance requirements) into plant management, enabling learners to improve plant performance outcomes and support compliance in evolving operational and regulatory environments.

What You'll Learn

• Participants will be able to identify operational, maintenance and compliance challenges of mid-life Combined Cycle Power Plants (CCPP).
• Participants will be able to apply asset lifecycle and maintenance management strategies to support plant performance optimisation
• Participants will be able to understand and apply optimisation frameworks, including the S.H.A.R.E. framework.
• Participants will be able to use advanced monitoring and diagnostic techniques to improve plant efficiency and reliability.
• Participants will be able to evaluate technical and financial considerations of plant upgrading and modernisation programmes.
• Participants will be able to describe key requirements in regulatory compliance, sustainability and operational flexibility for mid-life plant operations.

Entry Requirements

• Pass in English at GCE ‘O’/’N’ Level or WPLN level 5 or equivalent
• At least NITEC in any Engineering discipline or equivalent
• Technical Staff with minimum 1 year working experience in related job role(s) or in power generation plant who needs to acquire Mid-Life Physical Asset Management Strategies including factors affecting the running of mid-life plant such as the operational and market risks in the energy transition period, compliance cost and financial management, plant upgrade and modernisation program and its execution considerations as well as the relevant operation and maintenance management activities applicable to a mid-life Combined Cycle Power Plant (CCPP)
