About This Course
This two-day programme equips technology professionals with essential knowledge and practical skills in environmental sustainability management. Designed for sustainability practitioners, Environmental, Social and Governance managers, and technology leaders, the course combines global frameworks with Singapore's national agenda to build actionable organisational sustainability strategies.
Participants apply systems thinking to sustainability fundamentals, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and Environmental, Social and Governance practice, while addressing technology-specific challenges from energy-intensive data centres to electronic waste. The curriculum emphasises the Singapore Green Plan 2030 and reporting expectations under Singapore Exchange and Monetary Authority of Singapore guidelines.
Through experiential learning, case studies and hands-on tools, participants build capability in Environmental, Social and Governance and Sustainable Development Goal alignment, basic materiality assessment, and impact reporting for technology operations. The programme also examines emerging technology relevant to national sustainability targets, and how sustainability creates value while navigating greenwashing and other barriers.
The course culminates in assessments validating both knowledge and practical application. Graduates will have the tools and confidence to champion environmental sustainability management initiatives that create business value while addressing urgent environmental challenges.
What You'll Learn
• Apply systems thinking to the three pillars of sustainability (environmental, social and economic) and to circular economy principles in technology industry contexts
• Apply the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to technology sector contributions, and use systems thinking to interpret the interconnected nature of the 169 targets
• Integrate the five pillars of the Singapore Green Plan 2030 into organisational environmental sustainability management strategies
• Identify Environmental, Social and Governance topics and sub-topics aligned with Singapore Exchange sustainability reporting and Monetary Authority of Singapore environmental risk guidelines
• Develop integrated Environmental, Social and Governance and Sustainable Development Goal frameworks that demonstrate clear impact pathways and value creation
• Evaluate the environmental sustainability of digital infrastructure, including data centres, electronic waste and circular economy practices
• Apply environmental sustainability management practices to technology industry challenges, including greenwashing risk and planned obsolescence
• Develop authentic sustainability communication that demonstrates environmental sustainability management performance and impact
• Identify Singapore government incentives, grants and support programmes that support organisational sustainability strategies
• Demonstrate professional competency through practical scenario assessment and development of an actionable 90-day environmental sustainability management action plan
Entry Requirements
No prior sustainability experience required
This programme is designed for complete beginners with no prior Sustainability experience required.
A strong interest or involvement in sustainability or corporate responsibility is helpful.
Be able to speak, listen, read and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to Employability Skills Workforce Skills Qualification (ES WSQ) Workplace Literacy (WPL) Level 6.
Possess basic digital literacy and be comfortable using common workplace productivity and online collaboration tools.
