SCTP in BCM Module (3/5): Building Cost Management (Cost Control Management)
About This Course
This module covers three core areas essential to construction cost control and management. Learners will gain a thorough understanding of the Standard Method of Measurement and its application to quantity take-offs across a range of building works, alongside relevant IT applications such as Electronic Measurement Systems, E-Tendering, and E-Submission. The module further develops competencies in cost estimating — encompassing cost data, cost indices, owner's capital cost estimation, and contractor's cost estimation, including pre-tender pricing and labour costs — before concluding with cost control techniques covering budgeting, financial forecasting, elemental cost analysis, cost planning, and project cost control systems across all project stages.
What You'll Learn
1) Apply SMM to calculate quantities for structural and architectural works
2) Prepare preliminary cost estimates, identify cost-influencing factors, and apply the Building Cost Index in the cost planning process
3) Implement cost control techniques across all stages of a construction project, including assessing the cost impact of plan shape and building height
4) Evaluate cost models and measure quantities for building cost estimates
