SCTP in BCM Module (2/5): Building Cost Management (Project Management)
About This Course
This module covers three core areas essential to construction project management. Learners will gain a comprehensive understanding of building construction and systems — encompassing architectural and structural components, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems, and essential building services such as air-conditioning, fire protection, and power distribution — in accordance with Singapore's codes of practice. The module further equips learners with competencies in project initiation, budgeting, risk and value management, economic feasibility, and financial risk management, before concluding with an introduction to Life Cycle Costing (LCC) principles, value analysis, and engineering methodology across a building's full lifespan.
What You'll Learn
1) Identify and evaluate appropriate foundation systems, retaining walls, construction methods, and architectural finishes
2) Apply electrical systems concepts and earthing principles in accordance with Singapore's codes of practice
3) Identify and recommend suitable air-conditioning, plumbing, sanitary, and fire protection systems for various building spaces
4) Apply project risk management techniques and distinguish between successful and unsuccessful project outcomes
5) Calculate life cycle costs (LCC) and produce a Value Engineering (VE) report
