About This Course
This 1-day course introduces facility management practitioners to key Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) requirements within modern building and infrastructure environments. Participants will learn how to identify workplace hazards, assess risks, and implement appropriate control measures to create safe, healthy, and sustainable workplaces. The course also highlights the role of digital technologies in enhancing safety performance, including the use of digital reporting systems, smart building technologies, and data-driven monitoring for safety performance indicators.
What You'll Learn
1. Interpret key Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) legislation and explain its relevance to building services and facility management operations.
2. Identify common workplace and building-related hazards and propose suitable control measures using the hierarchy of controls.
3. Recognise personal safety risks and apply safe work practices to mitigate common personal hazards in FM environments.
4. Apply proper material handling techniques and adopt good housekeeping practices to maintain a safe, orderly, and hazard-free workplace.
5. Conduct basic safety inspections within building facilities and report safety observations, near misses, and incidents accurately using organisational incident reporting procedures and digital reporting tools.
6. Identify fire and emergency hazards and apply appropriate fire protection measures and emergency response procedures.
7. Understand key safety performance indicators (SPIs), including Lost Time Injury Frequency (LTIF), and demonstrate the ability to monitor and track LTIF and related safety metrics to support workplace safety improvements.
