CoC in in Applied AI for Retail Small and Medium-sized Enterprises
About This Course
The course covers the following competencies, delivered over three days (24 hours) of facilitated hands-on learning (face-to-face) on campus. Prompt Engineering (11 hours), AI-Assisted Data Analytics (10 hours) and Vibe Coding (3 hours).
In the Prompt Engineering module, learners construct, test and iterate prompts for common retail tasks using realistic retail scenarios, and learn to configure tone and brand voice, evaluate output quality, apply human-in-the-loop review, and meet responsible-use and personal data protection obligations.
In the AI-Assisted Data Analytics module, the participants will upload their own sales, inventory and customer data to an AI assistant (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude or Microsoft Copilot) and analyse it by asking questions in plain English – summarising trends, comparing products and periods, and generating charts – without writing formulas or code. The emphasis is on asking good questions, checking the AI’s answers, and handling data responsibly, making it accessible to learners with little or no analytics background.
Finally, in the Vibe Coding module, the participants will use natural-language AI tools to build a simple working app or automated workflow for a real business need, and learn to deploy it safely and manage its data responsibly.
This course uses free versions of AI tools like ChatGPT, Google Gemini, or Claude for basic prompt engineering and general concepts. Participants may optionally subscribe to a paid plan to meet their own business needs (e.g. higher usage limits, larger files, or advanced features).
