Programming Foundations (SF)(Synchronous and Asynchronous E-Learning)
About This Course
The Programming Foundations module equips learners with the essential and applied programming capabilities required to design, develop, test, and document Python-based software components. The module retains the core intent of the Basic Level Programming Foundations module while strengthening the learning experience for advanced learners through applied programming tasks, structured problem-solving, code quality practices, and software quality practices.
The module structure includes Programming Primer, Programming Basics, Object Oriented Programming, Testing & Documentation, and Software Development Approaches. Through this structure, learners reinforce their understanding of programming terminology, computational thinking, software behaviour, and Python programming constructs before progressing into modular programming, object-oriented programming, testing, documentation, and software development approaches. Learners are also introduced to solution-oriented thinking that connects programming activities with requirement analysis, solution design, development, testing, deployment, and continuous improvement practices.
Through assignments and project implementation, learners demonstrate their ability to analyse requirements, design program logic, develop structured and object-oriented Python components, apply testing and debugging techniques, document development and testing outcomes, and evaluate suitable software development approaches for programming projects.
