About This Course
The Graduate Programme in the Department of Malay Studies aims to produce graduates with knowledge expertise on the Malay world and research skills that can be applied to areas in the government, media and business. In this regard, our graduates play an important role in contributing to the wider society.
What You'll Learn
The Department runs a Graduate Programme for MA by research and PhD. Graduate courses offered cover theoretical frameworks as well as more in-depth examination of specific issues pertaining to Malays and Malay societies. These courses expose students to ideas and perspectives which they can apply in the course of their independent research.
A candidate for the PhD programme must complete six courses as part of the coursework, including MS5101 Social Science and Malay Studies, MS5201 Critiques in Malay Studies and MS6770 Graduate Research Seminar. The candidate must prepare a thesis consisting of 80,000 words for the PhD programme.
