About This Course
The objectives of the above workshop are to help participants:
• Appreciate the need and importance of encouraging curiosity and nurturing an inquiry mind in young children, so as to understand the world around them.
• Understand methods of inquiry-based teaching and learning.
• Be equipped with the knowledge of scientific concepts, and skills to scaffold its learning through inquiry methodologies.
• Develop/design developmentally appropriate hands-on, inquiry-based science activities.
What You'll Learn
Topics to be covered :
• Characteristics and process of inquiry-based learning
• Foundations of using scientific concepts to support children’s development of the knowledge, skills and dispositions related to Discovery of the World.
• Understand and experience inquiry-based learning using science-based case studies in an authentic environment
• Lesson planning strategies for inquiry-based learning through scientific concepts.
• Facilitate children’s curiosity in scientific concepts through collaboration, questioning techniques, critical reflections, and other creative methods (e.g. exploratory/investigative play).
• Build teacher confidence through understanding the use of science-based learning.
