At the end of the course, the participant should be able to

• Identify integral role of hawker centres in the lives of Singaporeans
• Comparison of techniques and equipment used in Fine Dining Restaurants and the humble hawker stalls
• To appreciate the passion of the hawkers and how these passion made it possible for them to achieve popularity and fame
• To empower the guides with story-telling skills in narrating the passion stories of the Hawkers in Singapore and their contribution to the fabric of Sthe Singapore Story
• To equip the trainees with basic skills to manage a food trail.
• At the end of the course, the participant should be able to

• To understand the evolution of the hawker culture
• To tell the personal stories of the passion of street hawkers how they create an unique experience and identity for their customers, raising the status of local food culture to Michelin Stars Status.
• To empower the guides with story-telling skills in narrating the cultural web of Singapore through the web of food in the Hawker Centre
• To equip the trainees with basic skills to manage a food trail.

What You'll Learn

This course traces the evolution of hawker-trade and development of a unique culture worthy of a possible UNESCO Heritage award; providing insights into the various factors influencing the hawker business; from pushcarts to hawker centres and foodcourts. Participants will appreciate how passion drives them to this profession, inspiring people, winning Food Awards. Through their passion, hawker foods become our “Home” food. Tourist guides could effectively deliver the PMP stories of our local hawkers to their guests. This course is suitable for all tourist guides who conducts cultural and heritage tours, educational programs for school students and food trails.
