About This Course

This course is only for the low wage workers in the PWM-Retail Sector.

At the end of this course, learners will be able to:
1. Identify the impact of local and global trends on one’s employability and job role.
2. Identify the implications of diversity in the workplace and participate in relevant approaches to work within a diverse workforce.
3. Identify current and new job requirements, gaps in own competencies, and select training and development opportunities that match personal learning styles.
4. Transfer skills and knowledge acquired from training and development to the workplace and measure performance improvement as a result of training and development.
5. Learn from and coach others a given set of skills from one job situation to another.

What You'll Learn

As market trends and consumer behaviour are rapidly changing in the global economic landscape, the ability for employees to identify global trends and changes impacting their work becomes a crucial factor to organisational growth. Staff need to embrace changes with a view to keep themselves relevant and current to the needs of the industry while seeking to enhance productivity and effectiveness in a diverse workplace.

This course seeks to enable participants to appreciate the global trends and changes affecting employability and the need to embrace lifelong learning. Participants will learn how to identify local and/or global trends and understand how these changes impact their role in serving customers, as well as adapt a lifelong learning mindset to remain employable in the new knowledge economy.


This course covers the following content:

- Ways in which various types of local and global trends impact one’s employability and job role​

- Ways to cope with adjustments and expectations required in current and new job situation in a local and global context​

- Sources and stages of change and resistance to change​

- Causes of gaps in own competencies ​

- Types of learning opportunities and their characteristics and available resources and opportunities for development​

- Ways to overcome barriers to the transfer of learning​

- Factors that hinder and encourage learning​

- Types of diversity in the workplace​

Entry Requirements

- GCE 'N' Level Credit (at least C5) in English and Mathematics or Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN) score: Level 4 for Reading, Listening and Numeracy; and
- With at least 1 year working experience in retail or no working experience are welcome to apply
