About This Course

The Crowd Control and Planning course is for learners with a background of work experience or who intend to work in the Business Travel & Tourism, Hospitality, Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (BTMICE) or other sectors where talents for event operations are needed. The course is designed to train and equip Event Operations Managers to be with the knowledge and technical skills and competencies to develop plans and procedures for effective crowd control to ensure the proper execution of events, including ensuring that all logistics requirements are carried out according to the event plans; as well as work with other departments and stakeholders to ensure that all operational requirements of the events are co-ordinated fulfilled. At the end of the module, learners should have acquired the knowledge and skills to manage crowd control within defined boundaries including crowd control planning and risk mitigation strategies.

What You'll Learn

The Crowd Control and Planning course involves employing a systematic approach to the Risk Management Process to mitigate and reduce potential risks for events that involve large crowds. Risk Management for events is a defined and deliberate process; one that must be planned and consistently applied for it to be effective. This process is sequential in nature, yet it must be iterative in practice. It is not a one-time activity that may be completed and then the job is done. Risk management must be an on-going and dynamic activity because the risks surrounding events are constantly emerging, growing, subsiding, changing, and fluctuating in terms of urgency and priority. The Risk Management Process must also be proactive and cyclical, facilitating communication, forecasting, and forward planning.
