About This Course
On completion of the module, students should be able to:
1. Identify the key characteristics in growth and development for children 3 to 8 years of age.
2. Examine the different factors that affect growth and development for children from 3 to 8 years of age.
3. Apply key theories and current research to support understanding of children’s growth and holistic development.
4. Use child development knowledge to analyse children’s learning and behaviour.
5. Demonstrate competence in using various recording methods to observe and interpret young children’s development, behaviour and learning.
What You'll Learn
Entry Requirements
The minimum entry requirements for DECCE-T are as follows:
For applicants who studied in Singapore:
(i) 5 GCE ‘O’ level credits including C6 in English Language (EL); or
(ii) A levels / IB without ‘O’ levels; OR
(iii) Local polytechnic diploma and a credit in ‘O’ level EL; OR
(iv) Higher Nitec in Early Childhood Education with GPA 3.0 or above; OR
(v) Advanced Certificate in Early Childhood Care & Education (ACECCE) or equivalent with GPA 3.5 and 3 ‘O’ level credits, including a credit in EL (or acceptable alternatives)
(vi) All applicants preferably to have at least 1 year of work experience in addition to qualifications.
