About This Course
"At the end of the course, students are expected to:
1. Demonstrate enhanced assessment competencies and treatment modelities in care of older adults.
2. Develop increase specialized knowledge on geriatric conditions and their impacts on older adult’s daily lives.
3. Iincrease prepareness of social work practitioners in response to long-term care in an aging society and the implications on aging in place.
4. Demonstrate abilities to assess program plans and gerontological social work interventions that are sensitive to different interests, needs and desires for older persons in relation to heterogeneity in ageing population."
What You'll Learn
The module provides advanced knowledge and skills of gerontological social work in institutionalized and community- based settings. Through evaluation of specialized programmes and services, students will examine strategies to promote healthy ageing and how the concept of continuum of care is operationalized in the care of older persons. Students will also increase their knowledge on multi-disciplinary and multiagency collaboration in care integration and how this can be effectively managed.
Entry Requirements
A Bachelor degree in any discipline and minimum 3 years of working experience as Social Service Practitioner
