About This Course
The course aims to deepen students’ knowledge of medical sciences and research to enable greater understanding of paramedic treatment protocols, so as to better manage complex medical emergencies. The students are equipped to apply relevant clinical skills in the management of patients in paramedic practice.
The course will also equip them with transferable skills such as communication, leadership, logistics and crisis management, to improve operational effectiveness and work efficiency. At the completion of this diploma, the participant will be able to:
1.Critically evaluate patients and deliver care according to patient assessment model (PAM) and according to local pre-hospital emergency care protocols.
2.Evaluate and document with accuracy, patient care and outcomes.
3.Function as independent crew leaders in the ambulance using their expertise in emergency medical skills.

The 900-hour part-time Diploma in Health Sciences (Paramedicine) comprises of five 180-hours Modular Certificates (MCs) with a clinical practicum. The five MCs will be covered over 5 semesters (2.5 years duration).
The clinical practicum will be 1440 hours long. The students will be on campus 1-day/week to minimise disruptions to their full-time employment.
Level 3 paramedics with vocational certification will only take MC3, MC4 and MC5 as they will be given recognition of prior learning (RPL) for MC1 and MC2.
Entry Requirements
The admission requirement is any NITEC certificate or a minimum 3 “O” level passes (with a minimum of D7 for English);
•and Higher NITEC in Paramedic & Emergency Care or EMS certification from SMTI:
•with minimum of 4 years of relevant working experience.
Applicants who meet the entry requirements will be given advanced standing with exemption to Modular Certificate 1 and 2 of the programme
Other applicants, with equivalent qualifications and relevant experience, may be considered on a case-by-case basis
